Work is going to a Thai/Asian type restaurant for lunch (in about 1/2 hour). I can't find their menu online.

What's safe to eat, or how should I ask to prepare? No breading, cornstarch, sugar or MSG, right? What else?

I have no experience with this type of food. !

I absolutely LOVE Thai food! I can't really see that much is low carb though. If it was me, I would avoid it, sorry! It is much like Chinese food with lotsa carbs... Spring rolls, sticky rice, etc. Maybe if they can prepare Chicken with LC veggies and without the starch it would be okay... just many Thai places don't speak the greatest English at times and may not understand that you want LC. Good luck, jeepifer!

You would probably be OK with some kind of Penang or Thai curry which is basically some kind of meat, veggies and coconut milk. There shouldn't be any thickener in it or sugar.

Eek! I'll sip water and push something around on my plate if I have to, I guess.

I have NO idea -- can't find a menu online. We're leaving in a few minutes, so I'll just wing it. Worst comes to worst, I'll grab something on the way back.

Take care and have fun!! Maybe they can just panfry some shrimp with oil and veggies.

I wish I saw this sooner. Sorry for the late response.

I have no problems with a dish called Princess Snow Pea. I detect no sugar and the rest is snow peas and meat choice. My BG doesn't rise much at all. I have a BG meter (diabetic). I will say that the fancier the restaurant the less likely there are sugars or at least large amounts of sugar in the sauces. I find the "whole in the wall" places and take out places use a lot of sugar - grant it great food but, more sugar.

Satay is another good choice. It's meat on a stick that's been marinated in coconut milk and spices. Be careful with the peanut sauce though. It might have added sugar.

I ended up with a seafood salad: shrimp, calamari, red/green peppers, onions, cilantro on a lettuce leaf.

I specifically asked her about any sauce and she listed the ingredients. I asked them to not put the sugar in, and she was fine with that. All in all, very good!

Oh, and I thought I was being safe ordering spicy at 3 on a scale of 1-5... yikes! It was great, but right on the high edge of my spice tolerance. LOL!

Glad you made it! I do not like eating out, but when I do I am very clear about my food and I always say I have allergies. Like tonight I am supposed to go out for a goodbye dinner for a friend, but I will eat ahead of time. Two reasons, I like to prepare my own food and I do not like to waste money and for me a restaurant is a waste of money.

I think you made a very good choice!

If you think the food was hot, go to Thailand. I don't think you can order anything mild it's all VERY hot. My husband has been and he said it was just incredibly hot food but, cheap and good.

LOL, yeah a coworker was stationed in Thailand for six months and he was telling stories about the food. Made us all laugh! If I thought "3" was spicy, oh man! He said 5 would kill me! ROFL!

Oh, and about 2 hours after the meal, my tongue stopped being numb.
