fiber one and almond milk

Junior Low-Carber

I need some thoughts on eating a cup of fiber one cereal and almond milk.
I am on my own version of low carb..
Any thoughts?
Almond milk unsweeted is 2 carbs for a cup
fiber one is about 14 carbs after subtracting the fiber

I personally don't eat cereal of any kind. But some have their own versions of LC, like you ... and believe that if they keep their carbs under 20 or so per day, it's okay. IF you feel you must eat the cereal/almond milk .. I would suggest that you also eat PROTEIN with it. Bacon would be a good choice because you get your protein and fat too. If you eat protein with your carbs, you absorb fewer carbs overall ... or so 'they' say.

I guess everyone makes their own choices. That stuff is not low carb to me. I don't buy anything processed and in a box, especially grains/cereal. It's not real food.

If it works for you, then do it. But I'm curious, why do you want to have cereal and almond milk?

This might sound stupid...
This is the ONLY food that makes me poop!!
That is the ONLY reason why I want to eat it..

This may sound stupid.. but the ONLY reason I want to eat fiber one cereal and almond milk is it makes me Poop! ( sorry )

Love the unsweetened almond milk....
Fiber one cereal, while it is high in fiber, it is also high in sugar which is the complete opposite of what you should be consuming on low carb.

I personally think you should be getting your fiber from veggies, or psyllum husks but,
If you really want a high fiber cereal, try kashi go lean. Its not only high in fiber but high in protien, which is better to combine with the carbs. Oh and NOT the Kashi go lean crunch, that is high in sugar, just the plain old kashi go lean...

Good luck!

here is a good protein shake recipe for you that should help move things along...If you are eating cereal are you eating low GI fruits?

Here goes this is so yummy!

1 cup frozen blueberries or strawberries *the strawberries are lower in carbs but they are both VERY good for you)
1/2 - 1 cup unsweetend almond milk
1 container dannon carb and sugar control vanilla yogurt
I heaping scoop of a low carb protein piowder. I like EAS Vanilla (3 carbs per scoop and no sugar)
1 TBSP either: psyllum husks, or ground flax OR both
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Blend all together and enjoy! This is a great quick breakfast, and gives you GOOD carbs, protein, and healthy fat from the almond milk. I blend it in my magic bullet and it comes out like ice cream and i have t o eat it with a spoon AWAY from my toddler or he will eat it all on me

I make a flax seed cereal with unsweetened coconut and the coconut keeps things moving pretty good, if you know what I mean. When I don't drink enough water things back up on me. But the cereal helps get things moving again. I do put almond milk on top of it - it is a hot cereal though - like my version of cocoa wheats. lol

If you must have fiber one every day to stay regular, something is very wrong.

I used to have a lot of bowel issues, so I learned some things....

Metamucil works! Get some without sugar (and there is another brand that is not so much like beach sand, and they have a low carb). Dont get the wafers, they are wheat flour (gluten).

Do that stuff once a day for a few days, and eat your veggies, and you should be good.

Boxed cereals need to stay at the store, and out of your basket...
