Short story -- if I go on induction for 3-4 days to kill sugar cravings and sort of jump start things, and then return to a much higher level of carbs for a couple of weeks and then go on induction again, will that hurt my metabolism and make it so that I won't be able to lose weight on lc? I like induction because I feel so much better. Does anyone do this?

Background--I have been trying to return to the LCWOL ever since I read Good Calories Bad Calories. I was newly pregnant at the time, so I didn't and now am breastfeeding a 9 month old. The breastfeeding pediatrician (specialist) at two months said that it was OK to do Atkins. So I've tried on and off to do Atkins. Every time I try it, my milk supply tanks. I've gained weight bfing all three of my kids (I've gained about 15 pounds now), so I ended up weaning them around 9 months.

This one refuses to drink formula and he is sensitive to dairy (I've been off dairy for 5 months), so I can't supplement or wean. Would it be OK to cycle or should I just wait until I can wean him?

Haven't heard anything bad about carb-cycling except for the universal thing: no one diet is right for all people or even right for one person at all times of his or her life.

If it lets you nurse your infant and lose weight, that's awesome. If it lets you nurse your infant and not gain weight, that's also awesome. If it doesn't work the way you want and you get to choose something else, frustrating next step on the way to something that's awesome.

Not related to low carbing but have you tried the supplement Fenugreek? I used it while low carbing and breast feeding. It increases milk supply -- for me, it was a savior.

It is not expensive so giving it a try won't hurt your wallet too much!

hogsfan ... good points. Too bad there's not someone to say ... this will work exactly for you right now. But experimentation is a fun thing too.

Ruthee ... I am taking Mothers Milk Plus which was recommended by the breastfeeding clinic and[/u] is a combination of fenugreek, goats rue, and whatever other herbs are supposed to be in there. Frustrating!

It doesn't work that way because we're humans with unique genetic patterns that get altered in their expression over our lives, so we have to be our own Beeker to our own Bunsen Honeydew even if we go along with what someone else says.

There are people who do say "this will work exactly for you right now," but it just doesn't mean their often right or that you should listen to them.
