It may be worthwhile to have those transfered to DVD if you really like them! We have a ton of VHS's -- most were just ditched, but there are a few we transfered ourselves while our dual DVR machine was working.

I'm a big fan of the DVD's because of no rewinding, and being able to select workouts from a menu. One of mine I can even select the sections and the order and have it play my own custom workout. That was a Karen Voight one -- wish I could find one of those Sad (I have a few). I'm thinking I find one and I find them all.

Anyway ... did my Denise today -- the first aerobic part is difficult as I don't do jumping jacks, but I'm able to keep moving and do my best. I've improved on how much jumping I do in the latter parts. I'm thinking I really should get the right knee evaluated as it's not feeling so great. I also did the ab part of my Zone Pilates to get more ab work in. I might cut the Denise DVD short at the ab part and do part of another DVD I have of hers. We'll see. It will really be an accomplishment to do this whole thing!!

Everybody moving out there?? Hope you all had a great Monday!

Week one results
Amethest 1.0
LCC I'll add you in when you give score.
Shedev .86

I did the score by what % of our commitment we achieved. Didn't know how else to do it. I did 6 days out of 7. I hope you guys are enjoying your workouts. It sounds like you have some really great videos.

Dee if you are out there, any time you might want to come back, we welcome you with open arms.

RE: Exersize challenge
Shedev my score would be very low as I got a late start. But y'all watch out this week! The plan is for 4 DAUFB DVD's and a swim or two (if we get to the hotel we're staying at for a dance on Sat in time). If I can't get in the fourth DA on Sunday I'll do a walk instead. It was positively balmy out today, but rainy and windy so no walking to be had. My arse hurts tonight! Dee hurt her knee ... if you read this Dee, I sure do hope it feels better soon so you can join us!

RE: Exersize challenge
I hear you on the dvd's! I still have quite a bit of vhs tapes too. My old vcr conked out a while ago (it was 14 years old though!) I have one now that is a dual, it plays both, but doesn't record. Sad

I did do a 30 min tape this morning, I didn't feel like it, but glad I did it anyway.

Hope you check in soon, Dee!!

One thing that has worked for me in the past is to bargain with myself when I don't feel like exercising. So that means I give myself permission to stop X mins in if I'm really not feeling into it so long as I start. Almost 100% of the time, even if I feel like stopping at the X min mark I sorta feel like "well I'm this far why not just finish" so the work gets done. The occasional time when I actually stop it is because I am physically under the weather and I've learned that to push it those times can be counterproductive.

Speaking of exercise, my whole bod is sore today. I did the ab work on the Zone Pilates Mat workout but continued on to the leg work. This was after the DAUFB DVD and I guess too much for my unconditioned bod. My legs cramped up big time, so I stopped, but not before overdoing apparently. Hubby is off today so not sure if I'll get a workout in (planned a rest day).

RE: Exersize challenge
I did read about Dee's knee in her journal. I just wanted to extend an invitation fr when she's ready.

I usually talk myself into exercizing when I dont feel like it. After I'm done, I'm always glad I did. I do like working out but I get up really early for work so it can be tough to resist the urge to nap.

Amethest is the winner of week one. Congratulations, well done.

RE: Exersize challenge
I had a really good workout today. I scored really high on the yoga part of my workout so I got a whole new set of poses. I'm held back from high scores on the strength part by those darn pushups.

RE: Exersize challenge
That sounds really neat shedev!

After 3 days trapsing around in heels, my ankles were not happy with me so I decided not to do the UFB workout that is too much jumping. I will do that tomorrow and Friday to make up for it, but I did do another Denise Austin DVD -- Shrink Your Female Fat Zones. Feeling good about what I did (the whole DVD) only having problems with the lunges (bum knee) and making it through what seemed relatively easily. Last time I did this DVD (years ago, but I was "in shape" exercising regularly) it was still challenging. I could feel working, but am pretty happy that I'm in better shape than I thought!

You both are doing great!!

Me and Richard Simmons did a 30 minute tape. I found one of my favorites today. Broadway Blast-Off. Not super challenging, but better than nothing.

RE: Exersize challenge
Just finished my UFB workout. I'm improving! Even jumping say 1/2 the time vs. almost none at all. Glad I gave the bod an impact rest yesterday. The only thing I really dislike about this DVD is the ab work. It's done in plank position hands on step and I can't do that and the leg lifts effectively. Don't feel like I get an effective workout and my abs are better than what I feel I can do on the exercises on this DVD. Ah well ... can't have everything right?

Off to shovel the snow nobody told me we were getting!!

It's your lucky day! Shovelling snow is good for the abs; in fact, shovelling anything does the trick - heheheh.

RE: Exersize challenge
We didnt get too much snow in Cleveland, you'll have to send me some Trish. I created a couple new profiles with new goals so I'm not doing the exact same routine every day. I can make up to 6.

Amethyst, I think it can be good to go with a lighter workout once in a while if you dont feel up to the tough stuff. Sometimes a lighter load is just what the body needs.

LCC, you're making great progress. Keep up the good work.

RE: Exersize challenge
Thanks Shedev. You know... I've been eating my words I typed up there about it not being challenging. I'm SORE! The back of my legs hurt - so do my buns! Guess I worked harder than I thought. Ha! I haven't done that one in a long while.

I didn't get anything done today. I've got sick girls, and then we didn't have any electric for a few hours. Tonight I feel like my throat is on fire, so I guess I'm getting what my girls have. I just don't have time to be sick though.

Yeah, my "lighter workout" DVD made me more sore than the UFB one does. Maybe I was a bit too cocky doing it Tongue

I hope you don't get sick. May be too late, but I really do find that the zicam spray on the first onset of a sore throat does help. Sending healing prayers your way and hoping the kidlets feel better soon!

I'd LOVE too shedev but we don't have any snow Sad. I live less that 200 miles east of where the 2010 Winter Olympic games are being held in about two weeks and it's been warm and raining here the whole month of January. Things are looking grim on the ski hills.

I stopped after work last night and picked up a copy of Bob Greene's (Oprah's exercise guru) new exercise DVD called Total Body Makeover with the hopes it will inspire me to move more - LOL! It's advertised as maximum results in minimum time - my kinda program. There are 8 different workouts and it only cost $10.00. Gonna check it out later today.

T Cool

RE: Exersize challenge
Did my UFB yesterday. Need to do it one more time this week to meet my goal and hoping Sunday I have a chance. But with travel to this dance and hubby having the day off that will be rough. Still happy with my progress. I'm jumping more and more and continuing to move no matter what (heart rate is up there!) throughout the DVD. I need heavier weights for the arm stuff soon.

Have a nice weekend guys!
