Glittergal's journey
Hi
I have been an off and on low carber for a number of years. My health leaves a lot to be desired; diabetes, high blood pressure, fatigue syndrome, chronic pain and a mobility issue that scares me. I am 66.
So I started induction Jan 2. In that time I have lost 2/10 of a pound. I really had hoped for more...but I need to feel better...I am a sugar addict. I have have done pretty well this week except that I went over on the carbs one day. That was the second day when I was afraid to be hungry. Then I spend two days or so in induction flu.
I am not getting enough water--working on that. And I admit I don't move much. My pins are pretty shaky sometimes and pain increases upon standing.
So am going to hang in cause I need to feel better.
Any advice and support will be appreciated.

Glitter (Sue)

RE: Glittergal's journey
Hi Glitter....
I wanted to give you a word of encouragement. Two years ago I was on meds for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and depression. Today, I am med-free. My blood glucose stays at a healthy level. It's a process and for most it doesn't happen overnight. I was fortunate, that my body adjusted very quickly to the change in eating and the meds were no longer necessary...but everyone reacts differently for a variety of reasons.
I want you to know that we are here for you. There is a TON of support on this forum. Great people who are fighting similar battles to you. There is good information out here.
There is no reason to go hungry. If you are a sweet eater....there are TONS of recipes to cure the sweet tooth. (this is me most of the time.).
If you like to cook ( I sure do--but usually just cooking for one), visit LindaSues site or the recipe forum.
I'm glad to see you here and wish you well on this journey.

Hi Dee
Thanks for dropping by. I know from one of my previous outings with LC that my blood sugar numbers can be normal again...as for the recipes for my sweet tooth--unfortunately even using the AS creates cravings for me. (dang it!) I have been looking at LC recipes. I have printed off so many I will probably never use them all!

Glitter
Thanks for your support.

RE: Glittergal's journey
Sue, I have type 2 diabetes and my blood glucose levels have dropped from 300mg/dl to 100 mg/dl now that I'm eating LC.
AS also causes me to have cravings. I stopped using AS in October and lost 25 pounds in the last ten weeks. You just have to find what works for your body. Hang in there!

Grace and peace,

Hi Patti
Glad you stopped by. Started my LC day with beef patties topped with cheese. Wish I could realize when they are done--too dry this morning. I used to be a very good cook. Wonder what happened?

Gliitter Sue,

I think cooking is like riding a bike . . . it'll come back to you the more you do it . . . . but don't take my word for it because I am not the world's best cook although I am getting better with time! Big Grin

I am so excited that you started a journal . . . I have a place to come and talk to you now . . . . Smile

I am behind on my emails but I will be emailing you soon. I really will! Smile

Looking forward to hearing from you tomorrow (actually today!)

Do you realize that you, Nora, Diane, and I started this journey almost 18 months ago? I think it says a lot that we are all here . . . . slowly but surely making our way to goal . . . one baby step at a time.

Hey Glitter...
Sorry to hear about the AS. But there are still (as you know) a gazillion recipes. I also have tons printed off and have no idea when or if I will get them tried.....as well as several cookbooks.
But I have found a few that.....have made it to the standard rotation.
Have a great day.

Hi Dee
Would you share with me some of your standard rotation recipes, please? So far I have not done any recipes--just cooked something or thow a salad in a bowl. Yeah, I am sorry about the AS too cause I love sweets!
Hi all!

Hi--I hope and do strive for finding out what will make my body release the fat in the easiest possible way (if there is an easy way) This morning I had three fried in butter eggs and yet I wanted something more. I wasn't hungry any longer but wanted something! I want to have a normal relationship with food at some point. You know, where I am not thinking of the next thing I am going to put in my mouth.

Why not have some meat with your eggs? That would help stave the hunger.

OK, I will give that a try. I don't want hunger because then I feel deprived and want to eat even the doors off the kitchen cupboards.
Thanks

Hey, hey, hey!!! you are journaling!! I hope this means you are with us to stay!! I have not gotten the courage to do that yet!!! As Robin said we have been together for 18 months!! We have great commitment, but fall short a bit with focus at times, at least I do!!! We can do it. I am so proud of you for coming back to us. It takes a lot of courage to come back. We missed you a lot and are happy you are back. I really hope things start getting better soon!! Great job on the whoosh. I agree, I really like Robins little pictures. Maybe I should hire her to do the badges for our BLC challenge seeing as how I have NO clue (and don't take the neccesary time to find/create them!)
