Cool Tracy's Menu Journal
I don't weigh or measure, or otherwise track calories or macronutrients, so this is going to be just a list of what I eat in a day!

Coffee (half-caf), fresh ground, brewed at home with heavy cream
Decaf tea with coconut milk
Lamb chops (2) with mint/vinegar, cooked in tallow
mineral water

Dinner might be the ribs I have going in the oven, rubbed with paprika, onion powder, sea salt, fresh ground pepper and cayenne; then again, it might be something else. Not sure yet. Smile

Tracy

ETA: It was the ribs - about 1/3 of a rack. They were good, but started to taste too "porky"! I've really gone off pork lately. So I had two European weiners in natural casing, with a bit of organic low-sugar ketchup and mustard, and mineral water.

Nice solid healthy LC food there. Do you only eat twice a day?

RE: Tracy's Menu Journal
Hi Harry and Lynn! Harry, the rub really is good and a nice alternative to BBQ sauces. If you like pork chops, it would be good on those as well. Lynn, I usually eat twice a day, sometimes once. Depends, I just go with how hungry I am. If I feel like eating more, I do - if not, I don't.

I think posting will be helpful, bc there are a few things that I'm considering cutting back on to see if I can really lean out. I'm at a good weight, but could use some body recomposition!
Menu, Nov 26

Bevvys: coffee, half-caf, with heavy cream
mineral water

12:30pm: 6 strips bacon, 3 eggs scrambled with a little garlic and cooked in bacon grease, dollop of organic low-sugar ketchup

I have gone over to beef ribs as I generally prefer the taste of beef to pork. Beef ribs are HUGE compared to pork ribs.

I just wish I could buy ribs here that weren't covered in sauce!!!! All the ribs are in packages with sugary stuff all over them. I must go ask my friendly butcher if he has any 'naked' ribs.

I know, I seriously have to update my blog. I am guilty of blog neglect big time.

Beef ribs would be better, if only bc I prefer beef! I just don;t like it cooked too long...do you have to cook beef ribs low n' slow, or are they fine rare/med rare? Are they tough?

Lynn, I get my ribs in the buff Smile I bet your butcher will have some without sauce. Are they sauced and packages at the meat counter?

Hi Moonius! Great pic Smile

Yep they are. As a result I have never ever tasted ribs. I will go ask my butcher next time I am there.

RE: Tracy's Menu Journal
Beef ribs are cooked slow. At least the way I cook them.

See the Texas method in this link. 2 hours in the oven then sometimes I put them on the grill for about 15 minutes on a gas grill and leave the top open as they can be wont to flare up. I think if you wanted to you could cook them on the bone. I just cooked some rib eye this morning that was on the bone in a cast iron pan. I assume you could do the same with beef ribs. When they are slow cooked I don't find them that tough. I buy them cryovaced. It is a lot of ribs as there are 15 ribs in a package. I just cook them and eat them throughout the week.

RE: Tracy's Menu Journal
Thanks Mac!

Menu, Nov 26

Bevvys: 1 coffee, half-caf, with heavy cream (made at home)
mineral water
1 decaf Earl Grey w. heavy cream

12:30pm: 6 strips bacon, 3 eggs scrambled with a little garlic and cooked in bacon grease, dollop of organic low-sugar ketchup

7pm-ish: top sirloin, tallow, umeboshi plum vinegar (salty japanese vinegar), small tomato

Steak was about 300g according to the package. Cooked in melted tallow, which was then poured overtop and some vinegar sprinkled on. The vinegar is not sweet at all, it's salty (made from fermented umeboshi plums).

Awwwwwwwwwwww Smile

Menu, Nov. 27

decaf tea, heavy cream
decaf coffee, heavy cream (Starbucks)

11am-ish: top sirloin (about 300g), tallow, beef fat cracklin's, plum vinegar.
6:30pm: approx 1/2cup homemade clam chowder (clams, heavy cream, dry white wine, onion, celery, bacon, chervil, parsley, bay leaf)

Notes:
**I'm feeling the urge to eat this morning! The past week or so I was eating once a day (not hungry) - I think it's interesting seeing how hunger changes from day to day, or week to week.

**Had clam chowder bc I made it, wasn't particularly hungry yet. Also not very thirsty today. Yesterday I was, more so than usual, and drank a lot of mineral water. The recipe, if anyone is interested, was adapted from a Michael Smith recipe. He has some really good, simple dishes.

RE: Tracy's Menu Journal
Good day, Tracy.

Does your weight fluctuate based on how many times you eat a day? Or, is it fairly constant regardless of the frequency of your meals?

One last question: When you only eat one meal a day, is that meal more calorically-dense than a typical meal during a two-meal-a-day cycle?

That clam chowder sounds delicious. Smile

Actually my weight is fairly consistent regardless. It's been hanging steady at 112lbs. With regards to meals, I'm not sure if a one-meal day is more calorically dense, but it's probably at least close to what I'd eat at two meals. I am tempted to dust off Fitday and see but I hate tracking! I do notice that eating less one day means I make up for it another day. Not on purpose, it happens naturally - I'll feel like eating more. Or I'll want much fattier food.

The clam chowder was really good!
Menu, Nov 28

1lb ground beef (patties), mayo (soy-free) mixed with some hamburger relish
2lbs chicken wings
coffee w/ HC
decaf tea w/ HC
mineral water

Menu, Nov 29

high-fat decaf latte - a latte made with heavy whipping cream instead of milk
homemade chili (bacon and ground beef, tomato, spices) with sour cream and melted cheddar

Notes:
* yesterday (29th) I was out all day at improv class and then shooting promotional videos. Long day. I don't normally do the latte thing, but in a pinch it's a meal replacement for me, like if I know I won't be able to eat for a long time. It held me til 8pm, when I ate the chili. Notice the extreme dairy! Not a normal thing either. I usually keep it to some cream in tea/coffee, and I suspect the latte gave me some dairy cravings bc when I finally got home, I thought "oooh, I could have nachos" but realized what I actually wanted was something gooey/cheezy.

RE: Tracy's Menu Journal
Menu, Nov 30

decaf tea, HC
2 roasted chicken legs, diet pepsi
homemade chili with cheese, sour cream
mineral water

Notes:
* shopping today, lunch was at a mall. Didn't like the diet pepsi much, but it gave me the urge for more which means that for me, diet sodas are not a good idea.
