Expert Low-Carber

Found this on my wellness site at work. "Aggressive Cholesterol, Blood Pressure Treatment Shows Some Benefit."

http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/a...ekey=88501

They talk about targeting LDL cholesterol at below 70. First, they don't say how much benefit "some benefit" is. It is probably small and blown out of proportion. Second, it was a small trial with only 499 native americans with diabetes. Third, they mention the use of ezetimibe (Zetia) in addition to statins. Even though they allude to the ENHANCE trial, in which Vytorin (Zocor + Zetia) didn't do any better than Zocor alone, they obviously don't make the connection.

It's the statins stupid, not the cholesterol lowering. Even with statins, the absolute risk reduction is minimal. Just more shills for big phama.
