I'm not much of a cook, but I keep seeing all these yummy looking recipes that I want to try, many of which call for Almond Flour.
I found some
Bob's Red Mill on
http://www.netrition.com for $8.99/pound, but I also found
Now Almond Flour for $4.29/10 ounces.
The
Now brand is a little cheaper per ounce, and I was wondering if anyone used it? Would you recommend it,
Bob's, or some other brand?
Thanks in advance!

Kyle, that's a good price for Bob's Red Mill. I think it's $12.99 on his website. He makes quality stuff. I would encourage you to buy his products. Here's a quote from his site...
"Bob’s Red Mill is the nation’s leader in stone milling and offers the widest diversity of whole grains found anywhere. We are dedicated to producing natural foods in the natural way."

I found Bob's at my local grocery store, but it was $12.69/pound. I'm glad i found it cheaper on

Kyle, I've used quite a few NOW Food Products and have been happy with their quality. They are indeed a 'value' company but if you look at their website they are into producing a very high quality product.
As another option, you may be able to get the almond flour even cheaper if you buy almods cheap in bulk, then grind them in a coffee grinder. You can also grind them in a food processor. Usually, you are paying more to have something ground for you. Also, the taste is significantly better this way, b/c the almond flour is much more likely to be rancid when you are buying it already ground. Let price and convenience be your guide--just wanted to remind you of another option.
Kyle, that NOW almond flour might be cheaper because it is unblanched perhaps. Do you know if that's the case? I tried unblanched almond flour once and wasn't happy with it at all. Unblanched means that the skins have not been removed from the almonds so it has a dark color. In my opinion the skins also give it a bitter taste that will affect the outcome of your recipes. I stick with blanched now.
I just checked your link to the NOW almond flour and it is unblanched and that is the same stuff that I tried once and didn't like.

Thanks for pointing out the blanching! I overlooked that part when reading the descriptions.
Thanks for the feedback.
I went ahead and ordered the Bob's kind since it was skinless, blanched. I also ordered some of Bob's low-carb baking mix. Now to decide on what to bake!
Any yummy suggestions for a novice cook?
I'm late on this one, but I make my own almond flour with my food processor. It ends up costing much less in the long run--if you have a food processor. If you can't justify the cost, you could also look for almond flour in bulk and perhaps save some money due to lack of labeling.
I make my own almond meal and flax meal too w/ the Blend Tek processor . I make my own almond , walnut and peanut butters too . This thing even makes ice cream ! My DH likes his berry ice cream and I make it for him using the Almond Breeze and splenda . The one thing I can get him to eat LC !!
My DH is a fan of cornbread and I've just bought the plain popping corn and will grind that to make my own corn meal -
I love this thing ....
